my take on the build. change a few things around and for $60 more you have a massive graphical performance boost. doesn't the nzxt has a power supply shroud?

i understand your reasoning for the water cooler because it definitely does look a whole lot nicer. but if you were willing to spend a few bucks more and go with air you could have quite a bit more cpu horsepower.

Nikoli707 If I reuse my existing PS it would look like this. Basically 40 bucks and better proc and video card. Thanks for the advice.

Not sure I really understand you cturbo on why it is overpriced or less capable than the x99 you recommend. The i7-6700k and msi mb are still cheaper than the haswell. I realize you are getting two less cores but don't understand what that would mean in terms of gaming. I also didn't realize that closed loop systems were about the same as an air cooled system. Thanks for the advice.

Well it looks like the i7 6700k has dropped in price by $20 in the last couple of hours, but it's usually around $360-370 compared to the i7 5820k which is also usually around $370. The i7 4790k is usually around $320-330. I just have a hard time justifying the 6700k's price tag considering. It's not that much better than the much cheaper 4790k and it's not as good as the equally priced 5820k.

While I will let the OP pick the best answer, I feel ths is the best answer.

This setup offers a lot more, more pcie lanes for sli and other tools.

The additional cores are far more valuable than the newer architecture , both can be overclocked. You are getting a lot more compute power for next to nothing price wise.

Right now I am leaning toward the skylake build. Waiting to see what the holiday season releases and does to pricing.

Really came down to looks on this one and I like 107 mb better.

Thanks for all the help.
