Hey guys, this is my first time posting on this site, but you've always been my go to place for computer knowledge. Anyways, a friend of mine asked me to design a new power gaming computer for him, and I'm pretty sure that everything in here is compatible, but I wanted to make doubly sure since this isn't for me... so if you guys wouldn't mind checking it out and giving me your thoughts I'd appreciate it!
The basic components are as follows:
ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
Intel Core i7-2700K Sandy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623i72700K
GIGABYTE GV-R797D5-3GD-B Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B
Plextor M3 Series PX-256M3 2.5" 256GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Antec CP-1000 1000W Continuous ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply Exclusively for - Twelve Hundred(1200)/P183/P193/DF-85.
From my estimation the 1000W PS is needed to power all this stuff, but when I was browsing a "build-your-own" computer site, it let me pick the majority of those components, but it said that I only needed about 700W. This confuses me, so I wanted to ask you guys about that.
Last question (and this is a big one). He wants the computer liquid cooled, and has picked out a case that comes with everything included, but it doesn't have a GPU water block. I've never built a liquid cooled system before, so I'm not sure what the best ones out there are.
Thanks guys!
