This is the first time i'll be building a PC and since i'll be using this PC for at least a year and a half i'd love to have some help choosing the right bits and pieces
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: 1st June
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming is the most important. After that would be watching movies/videos.
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: I don't need a keyboard/mouse/speakers/OS
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: http://www.ebuyer.com, http://www.scan.co.uk, http://www.novatech.co.uk
PARTS PREFERENCES: Pretty much what i've come up with is here:
AMD Phenom II X4 940 for £151
Sapphire 512MB 4870 for £103 OR XFX 1GB 4890 for £171
Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 for £62
4GB Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500C5 for £49.04
Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB for £66
EV Black Mid Tower Gaming Case for £24
Arctic]http://www.ebuyer.com/product/124922/]Arctic Power 500W PSU for £30
Adds up to £547 right under my £550 mark.
OVERCLOCKING: Maybe only the graphics card.
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No.
Well, a few questions about this:
1. Is the processor ok? Is there anything better that I should get (e.g. Q9550) or should I go AM3 with a phenom II X3 720?
2. Should I go for the 4890 or something else? It is within my build budget but with the 4870 at £70 cheaper i'm unsure.. The only reason i'm considering it is because I want this build to last a while.
3. I don't really need a 1TB hard drive, but all the 500GB one's seem like underperformers (speed-wise) to the 1TB and the 1TB is only £20 more expensive with 500GB extra storage. Should I stick with the 1TB or go lower?
4. I'm very unsure about the motherboard, the PSU and the case. I really don't know much about motherboards, PSU's and cases so I would love it someone could help tell me if i'm getting bang for buck on these parts.
5. The RAM I selected was 5-5-5-15 latency, but there was one with 7-7-7-20 latency at £2-£3 more expensive. I thought lower latency's are better, so any advice there?
6. Is 500W PSU enough for this build? I will be adding in a wireless card eventually and a DVD Drive as well.
7. Seperate from the computer budget, I will be buying a monitor for around £150. Is this a good monitor to be looking at:
LG]http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/2700979/art/lg/w2253v-pf-22-tft-widescre.html?srcid=369]LG 22" 1920x1080 DVI/HDMI/VGA LCD screen for £ 139
I've been looking around for parts for a while now and am finally going to bite and get the parts. Thanks to any good samaratin who takes some time and helps me
