Hey all, I'm looking to build a new gaming pc.
At the moment all I really play is Wow, I'm also looking for a new monitor.

My Budget is around 1.5k au for the pc and around 1k au for the monitor and I was hoping to get everything from MSY or Scorptec who are both just around the corner from me in Melbourne Australia.

Hopefully, the PC would be able to handle a VR headset I may purchase in the future and id like the monitor to be fairly large. I would love a flashy looking rig if possible on my budget.

I've done a bit of research... but there is so much out there I'm getting confused and thought i would ask the experts out there for their opinions on which pc components and monitor they would recommend.

Basically whatever people suggest in this thread im going to buy asap as my current pc is almost dead 🙁

Budget is flexible I don't mind going higher if its really worth it, and will future proof my system for a little longer.

Thanks so much, anyone who helps.

Austrailian prices are pretty ridiculous, if I restrict myself to the shops you have chosen, and choose the part list of the link you have given, you get this (some exact parts were not available in the stores you wanted so I replaced them with similar components):

So the deal you found is pretty good because the PSU is quality as well.

If you want to build your own, from the stores you have listed, I have shifted the budget to 2k for PC and 500 for Monitor:

Prices will be slightly more at Scorptec, I would just get what you can there and get the big items elsewhere. You will be paying about $200 more getting the same things from there. MSY doesn't pop up on PCPer so idk about them.

You don't need a 1080 for WoW unless you are playing at 4k or 144Hz 1440p. A 1070 will max out settings at any lesser resolution even in BfA.

Solution
That 1070 is stupidly priced, when you can get a 1070ti for the same price.

Still this budget has plenty of room for 1440p, with a GTX 1080, if the OP can shop around.

A 1080 is excessive for 1440p even with AAA titles.

A 1070 is more than enough to max out settings even at 1440p.

Spending more on a RAM/MB/CPU combo that will be inferior to an 8600k build. The 8600k at STOCK has faster quad-core speeds than an OC'd 2600x. And with a decent overclock (which would only be needed if he plans on streaming) is less than 10% slower than a 2600x on all cores.
Once BfA launches you can fully expect that 2600x to struggle in populated areas at higher settings. My 8700k gets 70fps in Dal right now, on preset 7, the 2600x doesn't have a chance in BfA. in WoW which prefers Intel.

CX power supplies are a joke, and you're saving $4 over a Seasonic... not even close to being worth it.

Spending more an a lesser quality, higher capacity SSD, when he said he pretty much only plays WoW (which takes up less than 100GB of space including the OS)
Also saving $2 by going with a Seagate over the WD, sure whatever I guess.

Most of the money saved is in the monitor.

That's really up to the OP.
High-quality, 180Hz G-sync monitor
vs.
One of the most basic 1440p 60Hz monitors you can get.

switch out the monitor in my build, save over $150 and still be extremely well off without being excessive. Would definitely run Preset 10 with little to no issue (save for BG's and raids, which everyone has issues with)

@1440p Intel vs AMD isn't even an issue. You are still living in an FX Faildozer past also. Playing a bit of Alpha and beta, I think Blizz has inflated the specs a bit. I don't really see much of a difference in performance vs live, and I run 1440p with a 6700k with a 980ti.

CX650M is a good PSU, and got editor recommended award in the THG review. You are confusing it with the old CX's. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/corsair-cx650m-psu,4770-11.html

1440p IPS image quality vs a 1080p TN, I disagree the 1080p is better, even being gysnc. Games are starting to tax even a 1070, @1440p. Final Fantasy 15 is such an example.

Maxed out, it failed to reach 60fps, just barely. Pascal has been out for like 2yrs now, and is finally starting to show its age. When you have the budget for a better GPU, you don't go and buy a slower one. You get the fastest you can afford, so it lasts that much longer. I choose Seagate over WD, when I can. I have never had much luck with WD blues. That is a personal selection.
