New Gaming PC Build/Recommendations Needed

Apr 1, 2009
I'm building a brand new system soon, money is not really a factor but I'm hoping to spend a little less than 2000$. I've built all my PC's but i want this one to be to extra powerful but I'm not really up to date with the new cards, so anyone think i will be bottle necking my system?

Video Card:
Hard Drive:

(I haven't chosen which one yet, whichever suites my mood.)

The PC I'm on right now is still capable of playing pretty much every game on maximum settings, (except Crysis of course), but i can feel it starting to age with the newer generation games.

Great start to a computer.

Here are a few suggestions I might make to your current rig.

This can drop the price in your ram a few bucks. Great quality ram and good timings.
G. Skill Ram $95

This isn't as fast as a raptor drive but isn't far behind it. This is a very fast drive.
WD Black 640gb $80

Now with those savings I would reccommend stepping your graphics card up to the GTX 295.

The Dominators are fine, they fit in the budget.

WD Black 640gb or WD Black 1tb, Could possibly do WD black 640gb x2.

Would also look at getting the CoolerMaster Sniper case/850tx

Here is how I would build for $2k
Antec 1200 and CP-850

EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 LGA 1366 Intel X58 and EVGA GTX 285

i7 920 and EVGA GTX 285 SC

OCZ Platinum 6gb DDR3 1600

WD6401AALS+free SATA Cable

Vista 64

Grease: MX-2

With Shipping that comes to about $1950, and that is just about as good as you get, without spending hundreds more on SSD's. You can play any game you want at any resolution with that setup (Anandtech got 35 FPS at 25x16 res in Crysis on all enthusiast settings with a similar setup, OC your i7 to around 3.6ish and you will get even better results). You get $75 MIR, making the grand total $1875.
