New Gaming PC Help

Solution
While I agree with others who are saying that 7700K rules for gaming, just remember that for the price of your current 7700K build, you can get a Ryzen 5 1600 and a slightly cheaper motherboard and step up from a GTX 1080 to a 1080ti. That will unquestionably be faster over a wide range of games. So yes, the 7700K is the faster gaming CPU, but a Ryzen 5 1600 and 1080ti is actually the superior gaming build at your budget.

RE 1080 vs 1080ti, you're paying 35-40% more for the 1080ti for around 30-35% better performance in GPU limited scenarios. That's a slight falloff in value, but it's actually not nearly as bad as you usually see for the top-tier performance. That's mostly because the 1080 prices are badly inflated right now...
Thanks changed it and yes i was also thinking the 7700k also but i can save alot more using ryzen since i live next to a micro center, and if i get a 7700k i already know im going to delid and try to get as high as possible like i always do.

if already running a 6700K, (especially an OC'd one!) you'd be facing reduced framerates at 1080/1440P (10-30% with any Ryzen....unless a streamer while gaming....

(7700k and 6700K perform identically at the same clocks, so that would be a waste of time, a lateral move at best)

I'd stand pat, get a better GPU where it will make a difference...

Anyway, I actually don't think you have any bad options here. 7700K or 1700 + 1080, or 1600 + 1080ti, they're all good, solid choices that will deliver fantastic gaming experiences. There's pros and cons for each approach, but no bad options IMHO.

Can you post a build with the 1080ti in it so I can see the difference.
