Question New gaming pc making a hovering noise

I built the pc recently and its been making a humming/hovering sound, it almost sounds like the opressor mk2 from gta online. Ive read other posts about a similar issue but what mine differs from is that i dont have a hdd and the sound goes away during load, meaning its only here when im idling

Any suggestions what could be making this sound?

#1 PSU, GPU and/or MoBo coil whine.
#2 CPU, GPU and/or case fan airflow.

You sure that it stops, rather than being masked into other sounds (e.g case fans spinning faster = more noise from fans)?
Im not exactly sure, but during load i cant hear that sound even when close to the pc

I dont think it can be my gpu fans because they start spinning when the temp rises to a certain point, so theyre still when im idle

This sound also goes away even when im only stressing the cpu

Do you have any advice what i could do?

Open the side panel of your PC case and put your ear to it, to exactly locate from where the noise comes from. This narrows things down quite a bit.

Also, you can stop case fans from spinning momentarily, to rule out fan airflow or even fan bearing noise.
I put my ear right next to each ventilator and i could mostly hear the fan noise, it feels like this noise is coming from underneath or somewhere? Im suspecting the psu, altho i dont think the psu fan makes such noise because i have smart fan mode enabled which means the fan is not spinning idle

One of the very few PSUs with ARGB fan in it, that are actually good quality. Most PSUs with (A)RGB fan in them are usually crap.

Still, build quality alone doesn't state if PSU is coil whine free or not. Usually it comes down to specific model which is affected. E.g Seasonic X-series PSUs were known to have coil whine, despite the PSU itself being of good quality.

As of fixes, essentially two options:
#1 Increase white noise in the room, so that PSU coil whine is masked into it.
#2 Buy a PSU that isn't prone to coil whine. This means switching the model or even brand.

E.g i'm running Seasonic PRIME TX-650 (one in Skylake build, another in Haswell build, full specs and pics in my sig) and to the date, these PSUs are the quietest ones i've ever had. 0 coil whine too.
When to think about it 🤔 , none of the Seasonic units i've used have produced any coil whine, and i've used several. Besides the two PRIME units, i also have Seasonic Focus PX-550 in my old AMD build. I've also used Seasonic M12II-850 EVO (now retired) and Seasonic S12II-520 (also now retired).

That hovering/whoosh sounds like airflow noise to me. May not be PSU fan per se, but if you have extreme negative or positive pressure inside the PC case, there could be gap/hole under PC where air moves through, thus creating that sound.
My airflow is 2 in and 1 out, cpu cooler facing out if that does much. I kinda doubt AIR could make such noise, the only thing i can think about is maybe the case design makes something make that sound, although it doesnt make sense that it disappears during load. Man im confused

PC case vibration and it resonating due to something can be an issue as well. Albeit it's quite rare, especially when you don't have HDDs in the system which would cause vibrations.

For example, in my Haswell build, i have bottom intake fan (have bottom intake fan in Skylake build as well) and for some reason, the Corsair 750D Airflow Edition PC case likes to resonate at one corner of bottom intake fan. To get rid of that noise, i've squeezed a small matchbox under the PC case, at the right spot, so that it would hold up the metal a bit, which stops that resonating noise.

Wow, good for you. I think that could work for me so im gonna try a bunch of different things and even if i dont find a solution ig thats okay. Thanks for all the advice
