I decided to buy a gaming PC, but wanted one I could use in the living room with my HDTV. After some research I ended up getting a Syber Vapor Xtreme from CyberPowerPC. I'm really happy with the computer except for one huge problem. Anytime you game on it, the CPU and GPU temperatures get really hot, 85-100 C.
So now I have a brand new PC I bought for gaming that I can't safely play games on. Apparently this is an issue some people have had with this PC because of the poor ventilation and lack of a case fan. So I'm trying to figure out my options. I don't see any obvious way of improving the cooling in the existing case and I doubt CyberPowerPC is going to let me send it back. So I was thinking about transplanting the components into a better case with improved cooling, like the Corsair Air 240.
That said, I haven't built a PC in 15 years, and I really don't know if moving the parts over is possible, and if it is, what all I need to buy to make it happen.
The Cosair Air 240 says it works with Mini-ITX motherboards, but uses an ATX powersupply. I think the SiverStone power supply might be an SFX type, so I don't know if that would fit. Also, I obviously need better cooling, and I know nothing about liquid coolers, or would just case fans be enough? How do I know which coolers fit my motherboard and CPU?
Here's what's in the Syber PC:
MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC Motherboard
Intel i7-6700K CPU (With Stock Cooler)
16GB ADATA XPG Z1 2800Mhz DDR4 (2x 8GB)
nVidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB
2.5" 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive
SilverStone SX600-G SFX12V 80 PLUS GOLD ACTIVE PFC Power Supply
I would really appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me. Thanks,
