Approximate Purchase Date: No rush. Trying to figure out my needs, but hoping to buy sometime this year. Summer maybe?

Budget Range: 1500-2500 CAD.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, web browsing/ working from home

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, mobo, RAM, SSD, GPU, monitor, PSU and case if necessary/recommended
Existing PSU: XFX P1-550S-XXB9 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Existing case: Corsair Carbide Series 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

Do you need to buy OS: Yes
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
anything reliable

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada

Parts Preferences: anything reliable

Overclocking: Probably not

SLI or Crossfire: Probably not

Your Monitor Resolution: looking to upgrade to a 1440p 144Hz+ monitor

Additional Comments: I'm looking for something practical, not showy. Prioritizing price: performance ratio. I don't care about RGB, aesthetics, etc. Ideally a bit of future proofing where practical.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My faithful system that I built in 2014 is showing its age and I'm looking to play new games (i.e. Hogwarts Legacy, Elden Ring, etc.). I'm also looking to upgrade to 1440p, 144+ Hz.

Hey, thanks for the response. Any particular reason for choosing that model of the GTX 4070?

Also, what are your thoughts on AMD cards vs Nvidia given the somewhat lackluster 4000 series cards?

1. Price
2. No idea how long AMD will continue driver support for their 6XXX series cards.
