This is not the first time I have built a computer but I have not built a Core 2 Duo rig. I already have hard drives and a power supply. I also have a case and a cooler. So here is what I came up with.

Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC22G6400ELK - Retail

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DQ6 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6600 - Retail

MSI NX8800GTX-T2D768E GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card - Retail

All these items have great reviews on the unhatched chicken site and Toms Hardware I have been reading posts regularly and have not seen problems with these items. So any input would be welcome.

Everything looks good to me. I had patriot memory in my old AMD rig and it worked flawlessly. I recently came over to C2D and didnt have the biggest budget in the world, so I researched this brand and memory and it appears that the memory in the link below uses Micron D9 Chips and is good for the price, but is not the best OC'er on stock timings, though it does have alittle bit more room. I am able to get to 850mhz with 2.0v and 4-4-4-12 timings. Some people can get to 1100mhz at some 5-5-5-18 timings, but if you are not going to OC huge then I would say save some cash and go with these. P.S. I dont know about this Patriot DDR2 memory, but my Patriot DDR mem did not OC at all, but take that with a grain of salt. So I would say if you maybe want to save a few bucks go with the G. Skill in the link.

You say you already have a power supply. What is it and what are the specs?

If you're salvaging a PSU that's 2 years old, in all likelihood it can't handle an 8800GTX.

You should really check the specs required there, or you'll end up crying when your brand new rig takes a dump ;)

And yes I pulled the power supply out and indeed it did need to hit the road this was what I came up with Mushkin 550200 ATX12V 550W Power Supply Thanks for your input this unit and all of the Mushkin PSU's had more eggs than you can shake a stick at.
