First I wanted to thank everyone for helping me with my new system
now i have other questions and instead of pm-ing people i thought I'd just
make a post.

My setup so far

Mobo - ga-p35 dsr (rev2) (being shipped)
Processor - q6600 (need a good cooler for this) (being shipped)
Psu - Antec neohe 550w (currently have)
Ram - Crucial Ballistix BL2KIT12864AA804 (2gigs) (currently have)
Case - Coolermaster 690 (currently have)
Dvdrw (unsure which)
Cdr (maybe)
8800gtx - Still debating on waiting for the 8800gt

I would like to OC my system a little and i understand that OC-ing may require
more power.

Whats a good psu to get without breaking the bank?
I've been looking at a few and would like to know which would be the better buy
for both the $$ and the quality.

Also what sets these PSU's apart besides the number of watts?

1. Thermaltake Toughpower W0105RU http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA6211188

2.Thermaltake Toughpower W0106 http://clubit.com/product_detail.cfm?itemno=CA6211185

3. Antec neohe 550w http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=269997

Feel free to throw in your suggestions

Ps would those Thermaltakes fit in my cm 690?

Don't you currently have the Antec neoHE 550w? That is what you have in your specs. If that is what you have, you should be fine, unless I missed something. I dont' see any reason that the TT wouldn't fit into your case. They look like they are the standard size, which 95% of PSU's fit into that category. Also, I would probably wait (if you can) for the 8800gt's or even the 2950's from ATI, to decide on what you want.

Yes, I currently have the Antec neoHe (Still in its box)

The reason I'm considering a diff psu is because I want to OC my system and I've done a little reading and some people have pmed me and said Oc-ing or upgrading would require more juice and the antec may not be able to handle that.

So instead of risking it i thought i'd look at some Psu's that pump out more power without breaking my wallet.

I would just hate to add on to the system or oc it and have my system choke due to not having enough power.

Here's a link that might shed a little light about what a QUALITY PSU can do, and yes you have a QUALITY PSU that I wouldn't hesitate on OC'ing with (especially with only 1 GPU used).
8800gtx on 380w Antec PSU!

Yeah, your NeoHE should be enough for what you want to do. It's got 42amps on the +12v rail which is more than enough for a single GTX. I ran your system through the Extreme PSU calculator and it was coming up with ~ 400watts of power draw. The Neo has 550 so you should be set.

As to your question about what sets units apart. Watts (as you know), amps on the +12v rail (important for GPUs) and the quality of the parts the company uses. The better the parts, the longer it will last and it will be more stable.

Yes, that is why it's funny when someone says you need 750w PSU to run a 8800gtx. I don't recommend it, because it may not last more than a year or so, but it brings out the point pretty well.

I think I saw the thread you were talking about. The guy was going to buy the Silencer 610 which was good for his system and then someone convinced him he needed the Silencer 750. The NeoHE will be good for his system.

Exactly, that is why a posted that link. No sense in over doing it. The 750 is nice, but why spend $50-75 more for something you don't need. Use that $ saved and put into a better GPU, that is what I try to do!

Unless you go SLi with the video, and stack a few hard drives, you will be fine with the Antec.

The TT's are about 2mm longer which does not matter inside most cases. They still screw in the same at the back.
