New Gaming Rig (share your opinion)

Hello,

I was about to buy another Titan X Pascal (not XP) to put them both in SLI when I realized that it's no longer available. The only one I can order is Titan XP and they're not compatible.

So, one thing led to another and finally I decided to buy a new RIG.

After some days taking a look at the components marketplace, I've picked these items:

CPU I7-8700K
Motherboard Asus ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC)
RAM 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DD4 3200 -> UPDATED TO 3600 MHz
Graphic Card 1 Asus GeForce ROG Strix Gaming GTX 1080Ti
Graphic Card 2 Asus GeForce ROG Strix Gaming GTX 1080Ti
PSU Corsair HX1200i 1200W
Case Be Quiet! Dark Base 900
CPU Cooler Fractal Design Celsius S36

Regarding CPU: it's hard to find, they run out of stock in Europe, anyone has any new of availability?
Regarding Case: I don't want any kind of window at all, but I want a good case with room enough to manage water cooling radiators (360mm and above), so this is the only one I've found with similar specs. Any suggestion?
Regarding CPU Cooler: I've been not able to figure out which is the one that fits my needings. I'd like a good balance between cooling and silence but, if I am forced to choose one, I prefer cooling rather than silence (I use to play with headphones and besides I guess that 2 GTX 1080ti can produce so much hot...)

From now on, please feel free to expose any suggestion, hint, question, or even reproach. I assume it's a big budget so I want to be sure I am picking the right components.

If you are in Europe, I'd go with the Fractal Kelvin over the Celsius. Rest of the build is hard to argue with its seriously top end.

Guessing from the dual 1080Ti's I assume your budget isn't tight. For 20-50 bucks more, you could go for a little faster RAM with low latency. Atleast 3600Mhz CL16. It should work directly out of the box with XMP on the Hero, and 100% works with the Maximus Apex. It could net you a few frames.

Irrelevant: I am updating the list with Corsair Dominator Platinum DD4 3600 (instead of 3200). It is about 50€ more, but as you say, it worths.


Karadjgne: what's the main difference between Celsius and Kelvin S36 and why do you prefer Kelvin rather than Celsius model?

The Celsius is basically a standard aio that happens to have G1/4 fittings for expandability. Aluminum radiator, composite pump with copper heat plate etc. With the Kelvin, Fractal worked very closely with AlphaCool (a leading manufacturer of full custom loop parts) and came up with a fully copper radiator, waterblock, heatplate. No Aluminium. The rad also has a fill port, so has the potential not to loose performance as most aios do after a few years due to hose evaporation. The only reason it's not available in the US is Asetek (the pump manufacturer) is claiming copyright infringement. But basically the Kelvin is a step up from the normal aio, and a half step behind a custom loop.
