Originally I was going to spend about $1000 in december but the plan has changed and I am able to make my machine now. I have everything picked out I just wanted to run it through you guys and listen to ur opinion. I currently have an OEM version of windows 7, and I know that you can only use it on the same motherboard. I heard that you could call Microsoft and tell them that your mobo went bad and they will give you another key. Here is what I was thinking:

CPU: intel i5 3570k
MOBO: asrock z77 extreme4
GPU: EVGA GTX 680 FTW 4gb
PSU: Corsair AX1200
RAM:G.SKILL 8gb (2x4gb) DDR3 1600
CASE: COOLER MASTER haf x

Thanks for all the help in advance!

B.T.W. I know that more VRAM doesn't improve performance, but I play skyrim and I am planning to have tons of graphically improving mods, so 4gb will let me display more at once.

I would get a GOOD QL 750W PSU ( take the money saved and up the ram to 16 GB ) for your video editing needs !

The PSU is a GOOD QL but Over Kill for your rig ( if it makes you fell better get the AX 850W ) and it will still save money and be over kill

The GTX 680 VS 670 is only about 7 % ( not worth the money ) but if you need the Ex ram then go for it.

Is 850w going to be enough because I am planning to get another gpu and also buy at least 3 ssds in the near future. I dont want to buy another psi when the time comes. I am on the fence between the 670 and the 680 because I can get the 670 in 4gb but I don't know if I want to extra edge the 680 will give me. Thanks again for your help

Ok... Thanks for the help I am going with the ax850 because of it's power effiecientcy and the fact that it is modular. I think I am going to go with the gtx 680 because I have the extra cash for it. I am also going to sell my older rig online, the problem is I dopnt know where to sell it. Should I use eBay or is there another site you recommend. Thanks again for your help!

You probably will not be able to get Microsoft to give you a new key because you have the OEM version of Windows. Microsoft requires the reseller (meaning the Builder of the PC) to support OEM versions of windows. What that means is that you have to contact the manufacturer of the PC to get a new OEM Key for Windows.

Also, you mentioned in another post that you are planning to sell the old PC so that would invalidate your claim that the motherboard went bad and you had to replace it. One way or another, someone, you or the person who buys your old PC, is going to have to buy a new copy of windows and install it. Even if you do manage to get a new activation code, Microsoft will deactivate the old code when you use the new one.

The only valid method of getting a new activation code from Microsoft is to actually have to replace your motherboard and put it into the same PC because of a failure.
