I have a Gateway 7200xl that came with a double layer dvd burner by
Samsung-toshiba Model TS-H522B. I can not get it to do anything as
far as burning. When I put a new dvd+r or dvd-r in the drive and use
my software to try to burn something. it will not work. Most all of
the time I get a message that says there is no space on the disk, even
though I know this to not be true. HELP!!

You can get this error message when you try to treat an unformatted
DVD-RW as if it were a CD. Make sure your drive is recognizing the
proper media. I know that in my case, Nero always asks me the source
before doing a burn, even thought the source is the same drive (D:).
Where it has the dropdown to select the source it has the options of
D: CD-R
D: CD-RW
D: DVD-R
D: DVD+R
D: DVD-RW

Now you would think it could figure this out on its own but I have to
do that selection for each burn. One time I selected the wrong thing
and got that error message you are getting. However, this might not
be the reason you are getting that error message.

Hope this helps,
TR

I by far am not an expert, but Nero sells its plug-in for burning a
dvd on the side. So if you did not buy the plug-in as an extra, it
may not work. if you were on of the ones who got the plug-in with it,
then check the media you are using. On some burners the cheaper
media won't work.
Use the Nero tool-check to give you in for on your disc. good luck.

I suggest you go to the manufacturer's (Samsung-toshiba) web site and check
for specific dvd disk compatibilities. Mine (a NEC) is very fussy and will
not even recognize certain dvd brands.

Also, I am assuming that since you specify +r and -r that you are not trying
to use InCD which only works with RW disks. Just had another thought, what
burner software was provided with your computer? Mine came with Nero which
works well.

I had the same problem with my new 7200xl. The burner was no good.
they finally sent me an NEC double burner and I have had no problems
at all.
