Question New GeForce RTX2070 can’t get recognized by mobo

I own a ASUS Rampage II Extreme mobo and was upgrading my earlier version (gtx285) GPU to a GeForce RTX2070. However when I plug the card in, I get nothing in terms of video. The fans spin but the computer monitor is blank.

Is this an issue where my mobo is not compatible with the new RTX card? The mobo is ten years old. A nice mobo, but I wonder if the new graphics card requires something new that the current motherboard does not possess.

Or, is this a BiOS or Nvidia driver issue?

Please post your full system spec, including PSU and what the prior GPU is/was.

Graphic cards are combatable with every motherboard. As long it fits in the pcie lane. If your fans are connected to a fan hub are you sure your motherboard is not dead?

Not necessarily @korv, UEFI support & whether OEM or retail implementations can be concerns.

In this instance though, X58 and a 2070 should be compatible, so something is amiss.

Are you sure you plugged in the auxiliary power inputs to the graphics card?

Working on that. My bios date and the newer bios date are only a few months apart. But I’m trying to update it nonetheless.

Seems to be getting power. Fans are running. But, yes, I plugged in the power.

I’ve also been thinking about buying a new Mobo and i9 Intel processor along with some DDD4 RAM. My existing power supply and hard drives/ssd will still work I believe. Ditto for my computer case. I bet if I built a new rig, the video card would work.
