The reason that a new monitor was suggested is probably due to the bottleneck that the 2600 will introduce to any gpu in your price bracket at 1080p. At 1440p the cpu is less likely to bottleneck and thus more of the gpu performance can be utilized. This of course changes depending on the game, but its worth to take note

So if you want to keep the 2600, then you will probably be looking at a rtx 2060/ rx 5600xt.
Though, right now the 5700 evoke posted earlier is a heck of a deal, even though the 2600 will likely hold it back, it will also definitely need a better psu.

Since you'll be investing into a higher end gpu, I would recommend going for a higher quality psu, like a txm or a focus.

What are the exact specs of the monitor. I mean, besides the 1920x1080 resolution:
  • What is the refresh rate of the monitor?
  • Does the monitor have FreeSync, GSync, or neither?
  • The brand and exact model of the monitor would help.
