Hello everyone! I recently purchased a 1070 to swap out my 770 with. I also installed a better CPU fan. When I turn my computer on no picture reaches my displays. The fans on the CPU and graphics card are running and the lights on the gpu are also on. Would this be a problem with drivers? When I turn my computer on nothing at all appears on the monitors?? Please help me! Thanks a lot for reading my trouble guys!

I am using an amd CPU

I believe the 1070 requires less power than the 770 does? Thanks for your response!

Test the GPU in another computer to rule out it being dead on arrival. Next, ensure that the heat sink you installed is properly greased and seated as well as the fan cable attached to the CPU fan header. After this, you're looking at ensuring that all power connections are attached. I'd check that the 2x2 or 2x4 "CPU power" cable is connected as this is often missed. After that, make certain that the GPU has all power cables attached. Some models can have "2x4 + 2x3" or "2x4 + 2x4" PCI-E power connections and if one is not hooked up the GPU will not work.

Last thing to check is simple BIOS settings. Although, most BIOS by default auto-detect if a discrete graphics card has been installed first before using the on-board/built-in graphics solution. Easy way to find out if the BIOS assumed this is to hook up another monitor to the on-board graphics connections (if any). This might also indicate an issue with the GPU itself. If you get a BIOS screen using the on-board graphics then the heat sink you installed is fine but you have a problem with the GPU.

I tried putting my old graphics card in to no avail. The fans are spinning with power running to the card. Here is a list of all of my PC parts on pcpartpicker.com http://pcpartpicker.com/list/BnKkjX I hope you guys can find a solution for me. Thanks for the reply!

Oh, that's not good...

Did you try hooking your monitor to the on-board graphics connections instead of the card?
Do you have a speaker attached to the motherboard and if so are you getting any sort of POST beeps at all?
Did you check that you have a power connection attached to "ATX_12V"? (it's the one between the CPU and the I/O panel)

my board has no onboard video and I do not have a speaker. One of my friends recommended getting this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5XU30D2324&cm_re=post_test_card-_-9SIA5XU30D2324-_-Product woudl this work to troubleshoot?

That's a bit overkill but it should do the trick. Wow, it has ISA slot compatibility. I thought that slot died with AT-specifications in 1995!

What you really need is a case speaker but the price for such a small item is ridiculous. This would allow your motherboard to report, with beep codes, what the current error is that's stopping it from completing POST.

Why can't they just send you one for the price of a stamp, the envelope, and the item? Lol... The other option is to buy 10 of them for $1 less, ha ha. Shoot, I'm half willing to buy the 10pc pack, put two in a bubble mailer, and send them your way!

Hey that would be incredibly generous of you but im not sure if my mobo has a spot for the speaker? I could be wrong though. I sent an email to a coworker who works on the tech team if he could look at it for me. He does this kind of thing for a living and i'm sure he might have one of those speakers. Thank you so much for all of your help! I may be computerless for the week :C

Oh, it does have a spot for one. It's part of the front panel header on the motherboard.

Hopefully when he hooks up that speaker you find the motherboard is fine. That would be unfortunate if the motherboard was actually the culprit.

While you're at it have that tech test your graphics cards, in one of his working systems if he can, to make sure they work.
