New GPU has dual 8 pin slots, can I just simply use 1x 6+2 pin?

So basically, my 1070 ftw have 2 slots for 8 pin, do I have to fill in both of the slots, because the only cable I have right now is a 2x 6+2 pin cable coming from one 8 pin on the PSU.

If not, should I buy 2 cables that are each 8 pins that come from a 6 pin on the PSU, or 2x 6+2 ping that comes from one single 8pin on the PSU.

You have one cable with 2 x (6+2)? Correct? That is two eight pins, plug them in you are good to go

If your GPU has two power ports then yes, you do need to put power to them both. But that power can come from a split cable (2 x (6+2) like you describe.
