New GPU, help!

Hi!

So I have had the GTX 760 since 2014 and I feel that it's time to upgrade...

I have looked at the 1070 and 1080 but they seem too expensive.

So I'm wondering what GPU you would suggest that I upgarde to that is under £300.

I was thinking of the GTX 970, is this a good card for today?

Thanks!

With price premiums being over inflated on latest gadgets, it's well worth taking a look at last Gen stuff and comparing the real world results. And I'm not talking about the garbage called gpuboss or cpuboss.

One of the nice things about EVGA is the step up program. Try the 970 for a while, if not happy trade EVGA back the catd and they put the full price towards something better. Apart from the fact it's a solid performance card that'll OC well usually.

That's the one I had and my relative has now. When I had it, I had moved from a R9-290X OC card. (I had issues with the AMD card). Evga has one of the best warranties in the business. But chances are, you'll never need to use it.

If it is at all possible for you to wait with a purchase, then wait. AMD Polaris will launch in June and they will bring in a 250 USD card at GTX 980 performance.
Just a suggestion...

The twin turbo model is a blower style, has a hamster wheel fan on one end and blows the hot air out the back of the case. This is a good design for limited space applications, but that's it. Usually they require more diligent cleaning as air is forced down narrow, enclosed vents and clog with debris easily. The gigabyte version was plagued with funky clock settings and a noisy fan. Not sure exactly what B-Grade is referring to here, could be factory reconditioned or a resell of a returned as new product. Chancy, which explains the price. It isn't one of the better, more reliable performance 970s.
