Hello,
My friend just bought an ASUS GTX STRIX 1080 (as did I) we both got the cards today and mine was installed with no issues whatsoever, after installing his card, his PC wasn't recognising it and two of his RAM slots are no longer working. He has tried resetting his bios and removing the sticks of RAM as well as updating and reinstalling the GPU's drivers multiple times but nothing has worked so far. We are going to try his card in my PC tomorrow (I'll keep you posted) and I looked at the power draw of his PC (which is adequate for his PSU) I just wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what might be the issue so we don't have to bother messing around tomorrow.
Thanks a lot,
Jack.

IMO sounds like could be a bad card, I would try swapping his into yours so we can confirm its not DOA before speculating further.

There is nothing about his setup that tells me the GPU would be incompatible. It has PCIe 3.0 x16 slots, so it should be fine.

That model power supply is a bit of an issue for a system with a 1080 video card, The CX (Builder) models are second to lowest in the Corsair range out of 8 models. That may not be what is causing things in the system, but in general, you don't want a low end PSU powering a high end video card.
