New GPU not at full potential

Recently got a new gpu (rtx 2070) and it isn't at it's full potential, I tried uninstalling drivers from my old gpu (rx 480) via device manager and it sait it had uninstalled the drivers and that it worked but I'm not sure if it did as I don't have amd catalyst manager. The other potential issue could be my cpu, it's an i5 6600k at 3.6ghz.

Any help would be appreciated <3

Whats your full system specs, ram included.

You should do a clean uninstall of the 480 drivers. Going through Device Manager wont get everything. Use the DDU tool below in safemode and remove all of the 480 drivers.

As for your CPU, in some games that are CPU heavy, such as BFV, it will hold you back some. But most games scale to fast single threads which the 6600k has, so for those it will be just fine.

Additionally, go to userbenchmark.com and run a bench. Leave a link here with the results as it will compare your 2070 scores to others and show if there is a potential issue.

I know it’s not at the full potential as I’m getting a very similar frame rate on nearly every game in comparison to my last gpu. I can answer the other part and the other answer later today. <3

Depending on game you were probably cpu limited already. In those games you won't get any more fps. A gpu can only render the frames the cpu can feed it. I'd start by ocing your processor.

If that helps you'll know that's the problem

Also depending on the monitor being used. A 60Hz 1080p monitor will be maxed by the 480, so no change in frames.

My Monitor is 1920 x 1080 at 144hz

That looks a lot like an overheating processor, or you never fully fresh installed Windows yet

Or that your never installed all your motherboard chipset drivers

^^^ I agree, something is not right with that CPU and it is affecting everything else.

Did you install Windows on a clean partition when you got your motherboard? If not do so now

Did you install all chipset drivers when you installed Windows? If not do so now

Download cpu-z and see what temp the cpu is running at during the benchmark if over 80c it's probably throttling

I did for both things you listed there but when I did a test yesterday, the results were good but today they aren't

I'm currently saving for a new motherboard and also an i7-9700k which should hopefully allow for the gpu to reach its full potential.

Download cpuz and have it open when you run the benchmark, it'll show you your max temps from the run

Download Intel XTU and select the stress test. Run the test for 5 minutes (it will take less if you have a cooling problem) and watch the temperature. If it gets to hot the CPU will throttle and the graphic will turn yellow. If it turns yellow on stock settings, then something is wrong with your cooler. Either it is not seated on the IHS properly or you have used too little/too much/or no thermal paste.

I checked my temps there on HW and I'm getting 65C when gaming

Your temps are fine. There is something else wrong with your system.
