[SOLVED] New Gpu not being detected

Hi All.

I recently bought a Geforce GTX 1660TI to replace GTX 760. The problem is it seems my graphics card is not being detected by the bios or it hasn't got enough power. The fans don't spin and the screen doesn't come on. My 760 works fine.

I have an older MB. An Asus Z87-K with a corsair 750w power supply. The new Gpu is made by gigabyte and is a Windforce two fan. I can't see the card in device manager. I tried installing the new drivers but it says no compatible card detected. I am running Windows 7.

I don't know what to try next. Is my board too old?

Did you plug the Monitor's cable to the GPU ? Also, what about the PCI-e power connectors ? Did you plug these cables as well to the GPU ? Update your system BIOS, if using an older version.

Clear and reset the CMOS/BIOS settings to default, and then try again.

Hi,

Thank you for the response. Originally I plugged the monitor into the GPU but the screen stays blank and there is no activity.

This morning I upgraded my BIOS to the latest which was a 2015 version.

What gives me a bit of concern is that the card doesn't have an an external power slot, it seems like it only gets power from the MOBO.

I haven't tried resetting my BIOS to factory. That will be my next step.

The other option that I can think of is upgrading to WIN10 and seeing of that detects the card.

Are you fully sure your card does not require any external PCI-E power cables ?? Which GPU brand is that ?

I am sure that I can't see a external PCI-E power, I have look that card over. I though that was strange in the beginning as all my cards have required one
