New GPU or CPU?

Current GPU: GTX 770 2GB
Current CPU: AMD 8350

I feel like my cpu is quite lacking and it really affects my frames when it comes to single threaded games, which are a lot of games. That is why I want to switch to a i7 4790 or a i5 4690k. I7 preferably because I do not know how the i5 will perform with the games that are starting to utilize 8 cores. However, I heard that the new 900 series cards are coming out tomorrow with 4GB of DRR5 vram and some games right now are starting to use more than 2GB of VRAM. With all that being said, an i5 4690k/i7 4790 or a gxt 970. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My build ah. Whats the problem? If you are having issues at 1080P its probably the CPU i hate to say it. When you say a lot of games you mean old ones? What games are you personally having issues with?

Also if you switch to Intel don't bother with a I7 just get the I5 put the rest towards a cooler and OC more ram or SSD

First of all, the i7 4790k does not have 8 cores, it has 4 cores. There are 8 hyper threaded cores on it, which is pretty much firmware that breaks up the 4 cores into 8 cores (although not literally) to spread the workload across. This has little to no effect on gaming. However, it makes a world of difference in video editing and such other 3d applications.

If all you want to do is play games on that
Computer, then save the money and grab an i5 4690k. Use the 100 dollars saved on buying a nice cpu cooler (I recommend the Noctua nh-u14s).

From all reports, the 900 series is going to be nice, but probably not good enough to warrant an upgrade from a 770. Of course we still haven't seen the actual specifications but leaks so close to release are generally true. So hold off on the gpu upgrade, the 770 is a nice card.

CPU! it's the brain of the computer having a better cpu over gpu wont hurt as much as a better gpu of worse cpu(bottlenecks)

Arma 3, World of Warcraft, and Far Cry 3. They seem to have better performance with Intel but I guess you can say these are old games.

Fool, no one gets good performance on Arma 3 😀

Those games aren't that old, and they are even used for some benchmark tests.

If you play WOW then yes most definitely i can say however in Far cry 3 it plays just as good as Intel and not worth the change or any new games. Arma 3

Also you should still be getting a nice solid 60FPS in WOW
