New GPU or monitor?

I currently own a 980ti and own a 144hz 1080p monitor. I want to get a 1440p monitor but I don't think 980ti is powerful enough but getting a new 1080 TI would be overkill for DID. Can't buy both, which is a better choice?

A GTX 980Ti is plenty for 1440P. The GTX 1070 has similar performance and is known as the go to card for 1440P. Get the new monitor and enjoy a crisper image!!
