So I just picked up a new PC and the fan died on the GPU I had to put in it so it's running too hot and borders overheating just at idle. Looking for any suggestions at worthy GPU's to look at. Still have to decide if I'm getting it now or just waiting for tax-time.
The PC is a Lenovo 300s-IHH running an Intel i5 4460s.
8GB RAM and a TB HDD w/Win 10.
1920x1080 resolution Lenovo monitor w/ HDMI connection.
1 PCIe x16 slot.
It's a small form factor so space and airflow could be an issue but I'm not looking for anything insane. Additional cooling is an option I was already considering. I like my PC's running cold since it rarely gets turned off.
Less than $150 would be ideal but looking up to $250 for comparison. Obviously the cheaper, the faster, the better. Rebates can work.
I mostly stick to Intel/PNY cuz they are just reliable to me and I don't overclock. But if something is worthy enough I'd look at it.
I don't plan on regularly using multiple monitors but connecting my TV or another one in the future could happen.
When I do play I usually keep the settings low in favor of performance. But I do hate that.
Really only worried about casual gaming, I do watch HD vids, but no programs that require too much would be running except games.
I haven't had to look at graphics cards in awhile so looking for suggestions to start at to match up with that CPU. I don't plan on upgrading anything in the PC for awhile since it is brand new except possibly doubling RAM.
I haven't played anything too serious on PC in while but I also don't want to not get a game I might want. I am looking at Civ 6 and GTAV. Civ games I know can bog a system game down late-game so I think if I'm happy running that I should be happy with the next BF or something.
My wife is a deal-hunter, and I mean hunter, lol. Whatever I find she finds sometimes 50% less so I'd task her with finding any suggestions and I'd bet she can find a real deal somewhere.
I started looking myself and there's just so many GeForce series with all these flavors now, my head started hurting, lol. So I'll take pointers or advice just as much as model suggestions.
