New GPU, Windows Kernel Driver Not Responding

Hi all,

I just installed a psu cx600, and a gtx 660 2gb gpu into my comp. Everything was fine for the first hour or so while doing normal tasks, browsing, listening to music etc. Then i played League of Legends and the sound and screen started glitching and going black and would get an error that said that the nvidia windows kernel mode driver has stopped responding (sometimes it says it recovered).

I restarted, installed the latest drivers, and then played Mechwarrior online. No problems. Went back to League of LEgends and immediately had the same error. Now my computer won't start unless i go to safe mode.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Ok well, here is the current situation. I went into my NVIDIA Control Panel and changed the "3D Settings: Adjust Image Settings with Preview:" Changed the radial Button to the option "Use my preference emphasizing" from Quality to Balanced.

A quick 10min test run seems to have solved the issue. However, i will give it a better test later.

Any other thoughts are still appreciated.

(Oh, and i downloaded MSI afterburner to use as a temperature and power monitor and nothing seemed high (temp never went above 42)

usually when the driver crashes its due to overheating. i would keep a close eye on the temps when you are gaming or get a free benchmarking program and put it under some pressure and see what happens

Well it shouldnt be overheating. i have been using msi afterburner and everything looks normal. AND i turned off vsync and things were better but a now encountering issues again.

I ran Unigine Heaven to test/benchmark and again had no problems.

I really don't know what to do. Is it possible i have installed something incorrectly?

I have literally tried every single fix I can find for this. Which has resulted in me having to replace this card (GEForce 660ti) twice, at my own expense. Reinstall windows at least 5 times if not more (with and without SP1) and search for countless hours on even more fixes for this problem.

And, surprise surprise, cannot load either "Files that help describe the problem"

I have Messed with my registry (To the point that I had to do a full reboot/restore on my computer and lost nearly every piece of saved thing I had for 2 years), Tried archived video drivers (Until I couldn't even remember what I've used and what is just cluttering my HD), Switching my Processor, Switching my motherboard, Changing Video cards (Used to have 550ti, now have 660ti (and it's my 3rd one))...

Seriously. Can someone just tell me a very super extremely simplified, click here and type that, fix.

Anyone.

I don't care why it's happening.
I don't care what is causing it to happen.
I don't care how it got onto my computer.
