Hi,
Yesterday, I just got a Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64, I used to have a Gtx960.
I installed it successfully, when I turn the computer on, the graphic card's lights are turned on.
But when I tried to install the drivers, the graphic card was not recognized by the system.
From what I read online, it could be an incompatibility between the motherboard and the graphic card, but I checked and it should be compatible.
I'm running an i5, 8Go RAM, Windows 10 64 bit. My PSU is 700W.

Feel free to ask more questions if it can help !
Thanks

As said above, have you removed the nvidia drivers before installing the AMD drivers?

Also what exact motherboard and i5 CPU do you have? In some systems you need to disable integrated graphics in the BIOS.

What version Windows 10 do you have? Is it up to date with all updates?

I removed the NVIDIA drivers, when I try installing the AMD drivers, the graphic card isn't even recognized by the app.

My motherboard is an Asrock B85M Pro 3 and my CPU is an i5-4690 - 3.50GHz.

I have Windows 10 64 bits, it is up to date.

What 700W PSU do you have exact make and model? Because that card is a beast, requires three 8-pin PCIE power connectors and has a TDP of over 250W. Are the PCIE power conenctors firmly connected from the PSU to the card?

Anyway I would try with DDU and remove everything (including the new AMD drivers). Then try.

You said you "tried to reset the computer"; the BIOS? Did you succeed to reset it? Might not be a bad idea to reset BIOS before inserting the new card in the slot.

Also have you tried popping in the old GTX to see if the slot is OK?

Is the Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 brand new or used by any chance?

My PSU is a FSP Hyper 700.
You mentionned 3 8-pin connectors but I can only see 2 on my card, is that the problem ?
Everything is firmly connected apparently.

I could not install the AMD drivers since the card was not detected, but I can try this.

I managed to successfully reset the BIOS but it didn't change anything.

My old graphic card is not working anymore, si that may be a slot issue.

My Sapphire is a brand new one.

Have you updated your system BIOS ? If not, then update it. Also, is that a brand new GPU ? If it sill doesn't work then it seems to be compatibility issue with older gen CPUs. If your mobo is having a vacant slot, then you could try installing the GPU on that slot.

Kindly clarify this. Does the GPU driver installation process complete without any interruption, or it shows some error message ? What does it say under the DEVICE MANAGER settings, " Microsoft basic windows adapter" ?

Is there a Yellow triangle exclamation mark, with CODE 43 ERROR displayed ?

The card review here says three 8-pin, this one you have is probably a new revision with 2 8-pin.

The old card that used to work and not working now can mean a problem with the slot. To make sure you have to check the Vega 64 and your 960 on another system. Also is there another card you can use in your motherboard slot to make sure if the slot is working.

I would check power connector/cables from PSU to both cards again when testing with any of them. Is that PSU semi/full-modular? If so I'd also check with other set of 6+2-pin PCIE cables that came with the PSU in the box.

As Metal Messiah said , what does windows control panel say about the card?

I’m thinking psu issues
Why so ? 700W is supposed to be enough right ? or is it because of the connectors ?

My system BIOS is up to date but the last one one the manufacturer's website is probably from around 2015, so... that's maybe a problem...
The GPU is brand new. Unfortunately, the mobo only has one slot.

To clarify, THE GPU driver process can't even start, the GPU isn't detected by the computer, it is not shown in the Device Manager panel. There is only the prebuilt graphic card of my CPU.
I'm at work right now so I can't check that.

I guess it's a revision yeah.

Concerning the PSU, my cables are 6+2 pin PCIE cables, I don't have any 8 pins ones. I don't have the box with the PSU but I'll try to find some 8 pin cables to try this.

I'm gonna try a new motherboard tonight to see if the mobo's working, then I'm gonna come back with more informations.

Thank you for your help !

Yes 8-pin connectors usually come in as 6+2 to give users a choice of using them for both 6-pin and 8-pin sockets on graphics cards.

No do not attempt to connect the PSU to graphics card PCIE power connectors using any random 8-pin cable (if that's what you meant). That why I specifically said check with other PCIE power cables if available and if they are the cables that came with the PSU.

Pinouts on PCIE power connectors vary between PSU make/models and using anything other than the cables that came originally with PSU in its box is not recommended as it can results in components (like the card) to go up in smoke!

Hi guys, here is an update :
I went to a computer shop : they tried my card on another computer : it worked. They tried it on mine : it didn't work.
Seems to be a compatibility problem, even if it was supposed to be compatible.
So I bought a 1060 Ti and I'm gonna send back the Sapphire.

Thank you for your help and your time !
