New Graphics card causes no post in build - but works fine in others?

Hey guys,

I'm having an issue with my new graphics card. I bought a VTX R250x 1gb, along with a few other upgrade components.

The new Ram and HD work fine, but when I switch my current VTX 6670 2gb to the new card, the machine refuses to post.

Managed to test the card on two other builds, and both of the machines booted fine.

I'm thinking my PSU might be the culprit, as it has been in the past.

I have a G7 Extreme 680w (Maplins brand) which I bought because my old PSU wouldn't run the 6670.

What concerns me is that both of the other machines the new card was tested in were running generic, non branded and lower wattage PSUs.

So is there anything else that could be causing my issues? The old card works fine still, and the rig is solid, right up until I pop that new card in.

For reference, I'm now running:

A Gigabyte H61 Motherboard (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4933#ov)
i3 2120 @ 3.30ghz
8gb of Crucial RAM (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00A14ZT6U/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_dp_1)
1TB WDC Blue

Anything other than the PSU that could be causing me issues? I don't fancy dropping more money to solve this unless it's actually going to fix it :p

Solution
It could be a motherboard / BIOS compatibility issue. This week I had a similar problem with installing a new 280x card in my MSI P67a GD53 mobo - it's an older 1155 board than yours. Upgraded from a 560ti. Video card and mobo both powered up OK, but the motherboard wouldn't post with the new card in. It turned out to be an incompatibility between newer Radeon cards and my motherboard - when I updated to the latest version of the BIOS it worked fine. Though looking at Gigabyte's page for your motherboard though they only have a release BIOS and nothing newer.

The other bit of advice I found was to clear CMOS and set "PCI ROM PRIORITY' to "LEGACY ROM" in the BIOS - however my mobo's UEFI doesn't have a setting for that so I didn't need...

You think it could be something other than the PSU then?

If you've eliminated everything else then it may worth having a dig around in Gigabyte's forums to see it anyone else has had new graphics card install problems on their board.
