New Graphics Card Help! GTX 780 vs Radeon HD 7990 vs New Cards?!

Hey Experts,

I recently purchased a new PC, MSI XPower Z87, Intel i7 4770k, 16GB ram, 240gb SSD, etc. but currently I am using the obviously terrible onboard graphics while I figure out what to buy.

Looking at the Geforce GTX 780 at the moment but also looking at the now cheap Radeon HD 7990 but the multi GPU issues seem like nothing but a headache to me and on top of that I keep hearing whispers about new AMD cards coming next month.

I am looking to be able to run new games at the best specs for at least a year or two with whatever I get.

What to do? What to do?

Wait for the new AMD cards, looks like it will be worth it. And no matter how good they'll be, it will make about all of the other cards drop in price.

780 hands down and im an AMD guy. The 7990 has more horsepower, but the 780 is more efficient. Plus I think the 780 is still a lot cheaper than any of he 7990s. Or as stated above me, wait til the new AMD offerings. But if you cant wait, 780.

I am in agreement with you both, I will try to be patient and wait for AMD to show their hand and even if the cards aren't all that great it will definitely make the other cards cheaper so it's a win win, now I just have to see if I can be patient and not just go and buy the GTX 780!

Have no doubt, whatever AMD offers will compete or outdo what nvidia has now. But we have no clue when those cards will hit the street. Im thinking of upgrading myself, but with a 7970 that is still kicking ass, I can wait awhile.

By the way, the HD 7990 is actually cheaper than the GTX 780 right now, which makes it, in my opinion, a better choice. That is without taking into account that there is a HUGE bundle of 8 games coming for free with it.

Hey! Should I buy 7990 or GTX 780 or GTX 780 Ti If I want a card that will go for 3 - 4 years, good frames, not to much trouble and this is my benchmark: Which card could run BF4 on MAX SETTINGS with 1080p and if that makes no difference go tohigher resolutions! Oooh yeah and fps needs to be higher than 60+
