New graphics card issues

My new grpahics card (Nvidia GTX 760) now causes my pc to take around 5 minutes to boot (I have an SSd and normally takes like 10s) Also if the HDMI cable is plugged in for my second screen the computer wont boot at all, If i plug the cable in after boot the monitor works. I have a 650W Corsair PSU and an i5 with no overclock.

Try to update the bios of your motherboard.

No problems with another gpu?

nah my other GPU (AMD Radeon HD7770) was fine and just checked and its upto date.

Did you uninstall previous drivers for the 7770 before installing the GTX 760 's drivers?

yeah used the AMD clean uninstall from their website and then installed Nvidia ones.

just used this tool to see if anything was left over and it is still causing long boots.

Did you try the bios update? Or at least try to set it to the optimal default values.

yeah i have the most upto date BIOS and i have Samsung EVO 840 250GB

Open Samsung Magician.
Check firmware updates
Go to Os Optimisation tab on the left and apply settings to "Max performance". See if there is any difference after a reboot.

No difference and I cant actually access any of the bios menus from the splash screens, I click the button but it doesnt load anything.

I removed drivers and reinstalled and hasnt fixed it.

Did you reseat the card? So taking out of the slot and putting it back in again.

Did you try a clear cmos,either by moving the right jumper for about 5 seconds (which one is to be found in the manual) or by taking the motherboard battey out of the motherboard for at least 5 minutes,maybe even pressing the power button for a while, and putting it back in again.
With the last option do you have to take the pc completely of the power,so the cable out of the wall socket.And maybe that's a good thing to do with both options.

just tired removing battery and moving jumper and reseating card and fully removing and reinstalling drivers and it is still doing it.

After going in and double checking it seems the Gigabyte tool for upgrading Bios hadnt actually put it at the most recent. Now it has and it is fixed. Thanks
