I just upgraded my graphics card to the RTX 3050 Ventus 2x (bought new on NewEgg), but nothing displays with it connected and the VGA LED is on. I've googled this issue pretty extensively and tried a lot of recommendations, but nothing has worked. So I'm posting here because I'm feeling out of options.

I've tried:
  • Unplugging and replugging the device multiple times to ensure it's properly seated
  • Ensuring all pins are properly plugged into the GPU
  • Checking if my motherboard is compatible with this card (it is)
  • Checking that my PSU has sufficient power (it does) and unplugging other internal devices just in case
  • Unplugging all auxiliary devices (USBs etc.)
  • Checking if my PC works with another GPU (It does)

My specs are:
Motherboard: P8Z77-V Deluxe
CPU: Intel i7-3770K, 3.50GHz, 4 Cores, 8 Logical Processors
RAM: 24 GB (3 PC3 8GB sticks)
Old GPU that works: AMD Radeon rx 580
New GPU that doesn't: Geforce RTX 3050 Ventus 2x OC

Let me know if there's any more info that would be useful. Any more recommendations for things to try would be greatly appreciated!

Assuming you are using the HDMI port on your card, try the other ones if there are more than one available on your card, otherwise try the displayport ones if you have that cable available.

Also make sure the cable you are using is fine.
I had already tried the other ports, and I've now also verified the cables work because they work with the old graphics card :/

Did you try to uninstall the AMD drivers prior to adding the Nvidia card? Can you try that? You may need to use onboard graphics or another GPU but you can uninstall the AMD drivers with DDU free programme, in safe mode, then install the Nvidia drivers. Power Down, install the RTX 3050 and hopefully that will fix it.

I did this is in the past and had black screen same as you, the steps above solved the issue
