New Graphics card suggestion for i7-3770

Hi, i`m getting my brothers old computer and was thinking about changing graphics card.
So i would love to get some suggestions on what to get and maybe i need to change sometihing else too.

Build:INTEL CORE I7-3770 3.4G
Gigabyte GA-H77-D3H
2x MEMORY DIMM 8GB PC12800 DDR3/HYPERX KINGSTON
GTX550TI 1GB GDDR5
INTER-TECH SL AC 230V, 50Hz, DC 3.3/5/±12V, 700W

I was thinking about gtx 970 and r9 390

Those are both great card for the price and perfect for 1080p gaming. The gtx 970 uses less powr and is cooler than the 390 but is also a bit weaker. I would get a new power supply though. Something like the seasonic s12ii 620 w
