Hi everyone,

Just had a couple quick questions as I don't really understand what computer components are/aren't backwards compatible.

I have a desktop computer I was thinking of giving away to a relative, but I'd like to keep my graphics card (R9 270X) and use it in my next build. So, would an inexpensive newer card be compatible with my old machines motherboard/CPU? (ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 with and FX-8320). Also, would my old R9 270X be compatible with a new motherboard in my next machine?

Thanks very much!

Sam.

Solution
The M5A97 motherboard will support pretty much all cards with a pcie (top dark blue slot) connector or pci connector( bottom 2 light blue slots).
Your R9 270 will work on all newer boards.
