new graphics problem

i have and old pc ,
board - asus p5vd2-vm
graphic - old ge force 8400 GS
ram - 2 gb
now i bought new graphic yesterday and it is sapphier r7 240 1gb gddr5
and when i change it fan is spining but display is not turning on so i did all staff in bios restarting and upgrading , i checked all my plugs that are on PCi-E and still is not working , but when i change it back on geforce 8400 GS , i have display working , so i wounder if u can tell me whant is wrong and how to fix it. is not problem with new card cuz its working fine. + when i put new card there is no beaping from pc that is something is wrong , and when i start pc my mouse and keyboard are not working to. Thanks for help

The new card should be working on default VGA drivers and at least show the BIOS splash screen, drivers are not an issue here.

What is the power supply brand and model?

You should also upgrade the RAM, 2 gb is barely the minimum to run basic tasks like Windows and one program at a time efficiently. Even cheap systems now come with at least 4 gb or RAM and many have 6.
