The title pretty much sums it up. Both cards have 2GB VRAM and are roughly the same price ($90). The used card is one that I found on Craigslist, and he claims it's like new (no one ever lies on the internet, right?). Which would you recommend that I go with?

EDIT: I should add that the 960 model is a Asus STRIX GTX 960 2GB. As for the 1050, pretty much all of them are selling for $90-$100 these days, so I'd just go with the cheapest option.

I've heard some bad things about Asus GPU warranty, so I imagine getting one second-hand might be a bit sketchy.

that requires cpu power, gpu's help little

but yes the gtx 960 is better than a 1050

the 1050 TI, is better than a 960

ASUS has good warranty, as it goes with the card starting from the date of...

Really? I'm surprised, most benchmarks I've seen (there's not many of them unfortunately) seem to suggest the 960 performs ever so slightly better. Are you sure you're not confusing the 1050 with the 1050ti?

The 960 is just behind the 1050 Ti, not counting vram, so that puts it ahead of the 1050. If you need every bit of performance you can get, the 960 is the way to go. I'd get the 1050, due to the newer tech features, like better 4k support, but that's because for me stuff like that matters.

Well I'm actually building this PC as a gift for my girlfriend since she desperately needs a new computer for her animation work. Given that she's gonna have to be doing a lot of 3D rendering, would it then make sense to go with the 960?
