Okay So some of the problems Im having with this new card...
1. Texture Popins in Gta V, ac syndicate etc, in Gta V texture Popins load on the go so the game doesn't stop before loading the textures but it looks like crap floating around in the game and Ac syndicate texture Popins hang the game every time, mostly while riding the cart..
2. Random fps drops to 1-6 fps.. Seen in Gta V and Witcher 3 for now... I can reproduce this problem.. Mostly 1) alt+tab out and back to the game drops fps from 30 to 5, 2) running or closing any OCing or monitoring softwares like hwmonitor, msi ab, gpuz, Asus gpu tweak etc
Running/closing these sometimes helps to fix the drops, 3) Also in both the games whenever I change a major graphical setting the fps drops insanely when it shouldn't because I've played with these settings on atleast 15+ fps, mostly I've seen it while changing msaa, advanced graphics and Dsr resolutions 768p+ in Gta V and in witcher 3 Dsr resolutions 1080p+.
Another prob linked to the previous is that in Witcher 3 mostly I've monitored the usage Temps etc, and found out that I've played Witcher 3 on 2k Dsr at 20-30fps and at that time the gpu load is 99% Temps 65c+, when the fps drops come in before/after this the load is 99% but Temps 55-60c only, further looking into gpu z sensor tabs I've seen in both the games that when there r fps drops memory interface load drops frm 40-60% to 2% and bus interface load spikes up to 50%+ otherwise when there are no fps drops memory interface load is normal 40-60% and no bus interface load, fps drops occur exactly when the bus interface load spikes.. I've Googled about this and didn't find any reference.. During fps drops cpu load is 40-60% so I assume it's not a bottleneck..
Solutions I've tried - running fans at max,pci e link state off in power settings, prefer max performance in NVCP, uninstalling all monitoring and OCing softwares..
Another prob I was wondering about is that once I was running Ac unity at around 15-20fps maxed out it was abit laggy so I thought of overclocking and paused at a scene of 16fps, alt tabbed and opened Asus gpu tweak did a small overclock, got back ingame and saw that fps was 25+ and smooth af for the rest of the gameplay, alt tabbed again and reset to stock clocks and went back ingame and the fps remained almost the same at 25 (yes gpu tweak allows otg profile changing so the OC did work) so it wasn't the OC that helped the gpu to work at its full capability it was somehow the triggering of Asus gpu tweak, it helped in some other games aswell idk what's up with that...so question is why isn't my card working at its full capabilities otherwise and how do I make it work at its best
Specs:
Gigabyte GA G41m combo. Optimal bios settings.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5Ghz CPU no oc
Cm hyper 212x Cooler
2x4gb Ddr3 ram
1 tb and 160 gb hdds
Asus Gtx 960 direct cu II OC black edition GPU
Seasonic S12II 620w 80+bronze PSU
Circle cc830 cabinet
Win 10 pro x64
I play on 1366x768 resolution(mostly use Dsr coz of gpu overkill)
Any help will be appreciated..
