UPDATE: It was infact a faulty card. Despite what you might read, the p8z68-v PRO handles this card just fine (granted, i did update bios).
------------
Hey guys,
I've just upgraded from a GTX 780 to a GTX 980 Ti Strix and i've been having some troubles.

My setup is as follows:
GPU: Strix GTX 980Ti 6GB 384-Bit GDDR5
Mobo: asus p8z68-v PRO
CPU: i7 2600k
PSU: Coolermaster GX 750w
RAM: HyperX 4GBx2 DDR3 1600MHz

When i initially installed the card (pre driver installation) it would boot fine, however raising the resolution of my monitors above 1024x768 would result in blue artifacts vertically aligned all over the screen like so: http://i.imgur.com/loCSpEk.jpg
Then upon installing the appropriate drivers the computer would simply stop starting up, restarting itself at the windows logo (also showing the blue artifacts a few seconds after the logo appears) or even BSODing. I can still enter safe-mode just fine and uninstalling the drivers allows me to start windows again.

Here are a list of things i've tried:
- Updating BIOS
- Resetting CMOS
- Changing nvidia driver version (clean installs and display driver uninstaller included)
- Moving the card to different pci-e slots
- Plugging in different monitors
- Using different power connectors
- Popping my gtx780 back in (still works great!)
I wanted to try it in my partner's pc but unfortunately the card is far too big to fit!

I've had a good search all over the internet but i haven't found anything particularly helpful, some people seem to think the Asus P8z68-V PRO just doesn't like the 900 series cards while others think it's fine or simply recommend updating BIOS

I guess my question is, does this just sound like a dud? Has anyone had similar problems with this card or motherboard? Should i just avoid 900 series cards with this mobo and return the card?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yep I've put in an inquiry, if i'm able to determine whether or not the cause is something like motherboard compatibility though it'll help inform the refund or RMA.

Well i can't vouch for your motherboard but yours is doing exactly what mine was doing while i had drivers installed, have you tried booting into safe mode and uninstalling all video drivers (using driver sweeper ideally)? Mine would boot if i did that but the blue streaks would re-appear at higher resolutions and the moment i installed drivers it would fail to boot properly (like your screenshot). You could very well just be very unlucky!

Best way to find out would be to pop it in another pc (if you can even find one that will fit it!) or in my case have it tested upon returning the item.
