New hard drive whith Linux

I have a new i7 Power x3.0 Packard Bell computer and I would like to install an additional sata hard drive from my old PC which still has Linux Ubuntu installed on it, can I install and then format to remove Linux with no harm to my new PC. I am new to Packard Bell and know Linux can cause problems to Dell computers I wont to be shure. If the answer is yes should I install inside or in one of the outside bays.

Thank you for your quick response, as I have scraped my old PC could I not remove the cables from my new hard drive install the Linux one then format, if its not posible I will try to get some one else to format in their machine.

Just put it in the new computer and format it. No problem. (But make sure that you aren't booting off it.)
