New Hard Drive

Should I format a new hard drive before loading OS? This is a new build and I'm waiting on the OS to arrive. It is window 7, 64 bit w/ sp 1 OEM disk.

When you install windows 7 it will format the drive to NTFS

When you create a DVD or bootable USB flash drive, you can install Windows 7 (make sure it is the exact same version you purchased), but DO NOT go through the validation process (you have up to 30 days to do so). When your Windows 7 arrives, open the package, get the validation key and validate windows.

So your saying I can download the same version to another computer and then burn it to a disk and then load on new hard drive but wait for the key number to come before registering window 7. Is that correct? If so thanks in advance for the info. This is my first built.

Yes. Unfortunately, those links from DigitalRiver are no longer online. Microsoft, in it's infinite ******* has removed them. There appears to be nowhere you can download an official Windows 7 ISO, other than buying it.
