I'm looking for a new 2tb hard drive since my 2 500gb drives are getting full. My budget is about $100 and I have a few ideas but I just wanted a second opinion before I order anything. Here is what I'm looking at...

the seagate is fine, it also comes with good data transfer software from your old drives.
the toshiba has an extra year on the warranty tho.

i've got a pair of WD black 1TB's i've been running since 2010 with out problems

Yeah, WD blacks are as reliable as enterprise drives. I've never had one fail on me yet. They come at quite the price premium though.

When you look at failure rates - they are measured in MTBF - usually over 1,000,000 hours....1,000,000 hours is 114.155 years of continuous use. Reality is - a good hard drive will last reliably for 5-7 years. 7 years ago - a large hard drive was much smaller than it is today.
