I'm looking for a new 2tb hard drive since my 2 500gb drives are getting full. My budget is about $100 and I have a few ideas but I just wanted a second opinion before I order anything. Here is what I'm looking at...
The WD drive is a better drive in my opinion. I prefer the WD Black drives, but it is $139 for the drive....Remember the green drives have built in "green features" - so if you are using RAID there could be issues.

Yeah, WD blacks are as reliable as enterprise drives. I've never had one fail on me yet. They come at quite the price premium though.
When you look at failure rates - they are measured in MTBF - usually over 1,000,000 hours....1,000,000 hours is 114.155 years of continuous use. Reality is - a good hard drive will last reliably for 5-7 years. 7 years ago - a large hard drive was much smaller than it is today.
