I work with premiere pro and after effects CS6
I need a new HDD for raw image (canon 600D, video h264)
I see this:
Western Digital WD5003AZEX Caviar Black
there is something faster? (no velociraptor, too expensive)
SSD is good choice for this? I fear fo the duration
thk

The large WDC blacks are even faster(but cost more).

Most video editing is sequential(read/write) so you should be fine with almost any drive for that.

SSD's would wipe the floor with ANY hdd under any load that needs the drive to get from place to place in a hurry(access times) or a situation that the cpu is not the bottleneck. I think with video compression, you still have the cpu as the main slow down(or at least for most programs).

You will want 2 drives for sure(if you are going to be doing LOTS of batch work). One for IN and one for OUT(video) to avoid the drive head having to jump from location to location. IF these drives are JUST used for the editing(and not the OS), they should be fast.

I do not think you need anything special for RAW editing.

Seagate's new drives are actually faster then the WDC Blacks in some respects(sequential read/write), but the 1 year warranty can be seen as a bad thing.
