New Hdd Issue

Just Installed New 1tb wd Hdd in my pc for Storage for games ect. I'm running windows 10. Every download or file transfer I add to Hdd, Shows a folder on my desktop, not a shortcut but the actual file. If I delete the folder from desktop it erases it from Hdd or vise versa. So i guess my question is how do i get file on Hdd without showing it on my desktop.

I recommend: Stop saving your downloads onto the Desktop folder. Educate each program that can do downloads to save your stuff into a folder named Downloads, whether in your OS or Data partition.
