[SOLVED] New HDD - Passed SeaTools but Fails WD Diagnostics

Longtime lurker with a question..

I bought a 10TB Seagate hard drive STEB10000400 and I wanted to make sure its healthy. It passed the 'WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows' SMART, and Quick test but failed the Long test. However it passed all the SeaTools test - Smart, Short DST, Short, Long. CrystalDisk and HDDScan also shows it as good health.

Is the drive healthy or should I try and exchange it?

I'm confused. I've always thought that the long and short tests were standard SMART tests, but with different, internal, vendor specific implementations. So I would have expected, perhaps wrongly, that WD's tool should produce the same result as Seagate's.

ICBW, but I thought that a long test would scan the entire surface whereas a short test would scan a few sectors in each zone. Therefore a failure in the long test would normally point to a bad or weak sector.

If WD's long test fails immediately, then this would point to some vendor specific anomaly. Otherwise, if it fails after several minutes, then I would think that a bad sector could be the reason. ICBW, though.

Not an expert, figured the more tests the better. Should I not be running diagnostics using software from a different manufacturer than the hardware?

Is the drive healthy?
