I believe that there's either something wrong with the connections or the drive itself.
You can start with just using different cables(SATA and power cables). You can even attach the drive to another port.
In case the issue persists, you can just test it:

If there is something wrong with it, you can just RMA it in case it is under warranty.
As this is a new drive, I believe you have no data stored on it right? In case you do, it may be a good idea to back up all the data(even though it may take some time) stored on the drive before all the troubleshooting.
