New HDD

I have added a second 500 GB HDD to my system. The old 500 GB HDD has two partitions C,D the C partition has Windows XP SP 3 installed.

My intention is to copy the data on D to the new HDD and then delete to empty D partition. Will the windows partition on C just expand to fill the space taken up by the old D partition or do i need to reallocate the new space so windows can use it?

XP cant do that .

You will need 3rd party software .
Partition Manager has worked for me in the past but there are others as well
