Hi!

Im currently looking for a laptop that can "replace" my desktop pc when im on the foot/out traveling.

I have fairly high demands though...

*14-16" screen of good quality (color accuracy and brightness) since im going to edit photos/videos
*32GB + memory
*2 slot for m2 ssd
*High tdp gpu (150W+)
*Lan-port
*Bluetooth
*HDMI 2.1

And a good quality chassie overall.

Budget: $3000

Ive been looking on the web and found one laptop that seem to tick of the list:
https://www.acer.com/us-en/predator/laptops/helios/helios-16/pdp/NH.QNZAA.001

Since im fairly new to gaming laptops all help would be very appreciated!

Best regards :)

Unless you need the portability, you should get more for your money with a desktop.

I see many complaints about gaming laptops not performing well.
Usually gaming while plugged in.
One common cause is thermal throttling.
Laptop coolers must, of necessity be small and light.
The coolers are also relatively underpowered.

Yes im aware of that. I already have a desktop pc with 7800x3d, 7900xtx and 32gb ram that I use for gaming and work @ home.
The thing is im out & about from now and then and I need a good laptop as a complement. I mainly work in photoshop and premiere and occasionaly I want to play games @ hotelsand also be able to bring it to friends for LAN gaming :)

And since I use it so much I want a descent laptop and not cheap out on the hardware.

Im aware that laptops gets really hot and becomes noisy, but as long as I can play games @ 60 fps+ im happy :)

Why I want such a expensive laptop is that I want good quality screen and good overall hardware that handles all of the tasks descent :)

Gigabyte Aero series.

I have the Aero 5. Creative user focus with high colour gamut 4K OLED screen (“Pantone certified” 100% AdobeRGB) and adequate GPU for video editing.

Just be aware for this class of laptop that the power supplies are beefy things, so portability will always be compromised. Some permit running off USB-C PD 100W in gimped mode.

The screens are generally also 8-bit colour, harder to fine calibrate with a puck (eg less precise brightness adjustment), and never quite as good as a proper 10-bit external monitor.

Thanks alot for your suggestions! Really appreciate it!

I've been looking for alternatives and found this that seems like good hardware for the money compared to other manufacturers:

Legion Pro 7i 16
i9-14900HX
GeForce RTX 4080
32 GB DDR5
16" WQXGA (2 560 x 1 600) IPS, 100%DCI-P3, 500 cd/m², 240 Hz
