New homebuilt PC crash woes + reboot woes pls help

Hi there guys,

This is my first post here, hopefully I didn't put it in wrong section, pls accept my apologies if I did....

Anyway, I homebuilt a new PC which is a AMD Phenom 9550 quad core w/ ATI x1550 series 3d card running on an ASUS M2A-VM series motherboard.

The issue I am experiencing is that the machine randomly reboots when even doing simple chores like internet browsing. When I run a semi decent 3d game (I used call of duty 2), I either get a freeze or a reboot....

Here are my system specs:


Motherboard: ASUS M2A-VM
Processor: AMD Phenom quad core 9550
Graphics card: ATI Radeon x1550
RAM: 2 GB
# of fans: 4- 1 exhaust, 1 factory stock (in processor), 2 on side.
PSU: Zebronics 450w

Temperature Readings (ASUS PC Probe):

CPU: 49- 55
MB: 35-41

Voltage & power readings (ASUS PC Probe):

Vcore: 1.22v (ASUS was set at 1.20, I changed it to 1.25)- doesn't help if I change it to 1.3.
+3.3: 3.36v
+5.0: 5.05v
+12.0: 11.97v

My first eye seems to be on the Zebronics...although guys here swear that 45

You are right about that psu, it is not very good and I highly suggest replacing it even if it is not what is causing the problem as it is likely to fail at some point and could take your comp down with it. Also note that because it is not actually rated at temps it will experience in actual use it is most likely performing like a 300w or less psu.

Here is a psu tier list. I would suggest buying one that is in tier 3 or up. If you would like help picking a psu I am sure members here will help.

Try running a stability test like Orthos or OCCT, also run an ATI Tool stability test. If you don't run into issues my guess is you should investigate more on the software side.
