Question New Hp Envy computer needs power supply changed

OK so a buddy of mine's computer crashed, he went to best buy and bought a HP Envy with I7-8700, but it did not come with a graphics card. He had just purchased a 1060 and a replacement 550 watt power supply from Best Buy that he put in his old HP. So he figured he could add the 1060 to the new HP and swap out the Power supply to accommodate the graphics card. When he got it all home to add the GPU and the power supply he noticed the 24 pin connector did not have a place on the new motherboard. I'm trying to help him out and point him in the right direction for a 24 pin adapter, but I can't find one that would accommodate the flat 6 pin and two 4 pin connectors. Its an HP 370 mother board. Anyone have any experience with this?

yes. return it(the hp). the motherboard can't handle the card

Sorry to hear of your experience with your purchase of incompatible parts. HP is in the business of selling PCs. The reason for non-standard wiring is to prevent what you are trying to do.

If you want to build a PC for gaming, I suggest starting with a bare PC case and a retail boxed motherboard.

I completely understand what you are saying, its not my pc so I have no say on that. I know he doesn't have a ton of money and already owns the graphic card and power supply.
