Hello. I'll be buying a new gen build soon using the latest 2080, and 9th gen cpu's in October (glad I waited).
My last "high end" build was done in 2012 with help from you actually.
The leftover components I will have from that build will be:
i5-4670 CPU
EVO 212 cooler
Mini-itx mobo
16GB RAM
450Watt PSU
(2) 1 tb drives 5.25
(1) 256 SSD SAmsung evo pro
So, I don't have a case, nor a graphics card.
I am not a gamer in the least anymore... I downloaded Half Life 2, Halo CE, and Doom 95 to play the campaigns, but struggle with Windows 10, and those old games, so I just left it alone (Can do a virtual machine, I know).
So I just want to use these leftover components for the smallest possible Mini ITX box in an HTPC to use my large collection of Bluray rips that I rip myself. I have a big collection of movies, and TV shows, as well as a large collection of 4K Blurays.
What case should I get for this? What graphics card should I get, and would it be necessary at all?
This HTPC will be hooked somehow to these toys throughout the house:
(2) 65" 4K Samsung TV's from 2018, and 2015 (this one with 3D support) both with HDR support
(2) 65" 4K Visio TV's (one with HDR support)
(1) Epson 5030 projector that looks amazing
(1) nVidia Shield TV 16GB
(2) XBOX ONE S used for 4K playback
Various Google Chromecasts devices (besides the internal casting features on all these hardware)
What sucks is that I'm very confused about HDCP 2.2, HDR compatibility, DRM, and all that crap when it comes to Windows 10... I think I need a specific Intel CPU to be able to stream 4K HDR through Windows 10, and only with EDGE browser? I may be wrong.
My budget for the case, and graphics card is 250$
Is it worth it to add a graphics card to this HTCP if I just want media consumption in 1080p, and 4K?
Should I add a 4K reader/burner to this HTPC?
Please help.
