I just built a HTPC and had some trouble with getting it to boot even to the BIOS. Finally found I had a bad memory stick which solved that problem. However, I installed Windows 7 Professional before all of the hardware was put back. Windows will not boot now. It either freezes or goes into a blue screen then reboots. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Thats an error for driver issues, I would reinstall the drivers or get them updated as soon as possible. Thats also an error for hardware incompatibility's you might want to make sure that the bios settings are correct for you'r ram.

No I wouldnt think so but try anything you can. allot of the time PCI-e is backwards compatible so there shouldnt be a problem there unless there is something wrong with the motherboard.

Like I said you know it is 2 things hardware or software, I have a sneaky suspicion it might have something to do with the video card if you can take the video card out and use the integrated video hdmi on the motherboard also please list all your hardware so I can see what you have and if there is any incompatibility's.

Mobo: EVGA X58 3x SLI
CPU: Intel (unsure on specifics)
RAM: 2 - G. Skills RipJaws DDR3-1600 4GB
Video: 2 - EVGA GTX 560 Ti with SLI cable
Sound: Asus HDAV 1.5
Tuner: WinTV card
HDD: 1 - WD velocorapter 300GB SDD
2 - WD 2 TB HDD 7200 RPM

well I would first try to see what Chip you have in there, also I would take out all the cards and just use the onboard chip video if you can but you need to find out what chip you have.

once the coputer can stay stable with the minimum stuff in there the add peice by piece and install accordingly.

Will do.

Is there a way to format the hard drive if I can't get Windows to load, even in safemode?

if your able to get it to load into safe mode then you will be able to do more trouble shooting if thats the case that you can enter safe mode, try to reinstall all the drivers for everything, but if I were you I would just format the hardrive how you do that is:

go into bios

click advance, then boot drives, select the dvd- as priority
make it so that the computer starts from the DVD drive and reinstall windows without even going into windows.
